If your dog is anything like mine, then he will LOVE peanut butter! These are great treats to make and your dog will love them. Mine always sits waiting patiently at the cooker for these to be ready! I like to use Meridian peanut butter as its 100% peanuts, so no added salt or sugar. Make sure that whatever peanut butter you use, it does not contain xylitol. This is an artificial sweetener commonly used in chewing gum, but is now getting used in quite a lot of peanut butters. It is extremely toxic to dogs, so make sure you double check.
1 banana, peeled
130g self raising flour
57g rolled oats
2 tablespoon dried parsley.
3 tablespoons peanut butter
1 egg, beaten
Preheat oven to 170°C. Put banana in a large bowl and use a spoon or potato masher to mash it thoroughly. Add flour, oats, parsley, peanut butter and egg and stir well to combine. Set aside for 5 minutes.
Roll mixture into 24 balls, using about 1 tablespoon dough for each; transfer onto baking paper. Use the back of a spoon or the heel of your hand to press each ball into a cookie. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes. Set aside to let cool completely.
These can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge. Or frozen to give to your dog later; just be sure to thaw the treats before feeding.
